Taloi Havini
Taloi is a descendant of the Nakas clan, north-east of Buka Island, Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Taloi is actively involved in cultural heritage projects, exhibitions, and community arts in Melanesia and in Australia. In 2002 she co-curated the 'Yumi Yet' exhibition as part of the Havini and Sirivi Families of the Bougainville community, and is a co-founding member of Pacific Black Box.
Georgia McRae
Georgia is a co-founding member of Pacific Black Box, with a strong interest in designing appropriate solutions to social issues through working with those who are directly affected. Georgia is a qualified trainer with a BA in Community Development and post-graduate qualifications in International Health. She is interested in the role digital media and Web 2.0 can play in future social development, particularly in the potential of free and open source software.
Rod McRae
Rod is an artist living in Melbourne who has also had a
career as a medical practitioner. He created this website
(now maintained jointly with other PBB members) and
has a particular interest in the use of
open source software in
development environments.
Barbara Goulborn
Barbara is a director of Curve Projects P/L, developing educational and training courses and resources for the community and vocational sectors.
Joel Kalpram
Joel is an indigenous person from Vanuatu who is currently living in Australia. He is presently completing a Social Science degree majoring in Community Development at Southern Cross University in Northern NSW. He previously worked with Youth Challenge Vanuatu for six years as Project Manager, running leadership programs and coordinating projects. He currently moderates the Vanuatu Youth Interagency Network (VYIG) and has also been involved with the Oxfam International Youth Parliament (OIYP) in the area of HIV/AIDS education.
Sana Balai
Sana (Susan) Balai was born on Buka Island, Bougainville in Papua New Guinea. As an applied science graduate, Sana spent more than 13 years working in the mining industry in PNG. This was followed by her museum career in the Indigenous department at Melbourne Museum, then at the National Gallery of Victoria where she is currently Assistant Curator of Indigenous Art/Curator of Pacific Art. Sana is an active member of the PNG community in Melbourne and was recently appointed Community Liaison (Victoria) for the Board of the Australian Association for the Advancement of Pacific Studies.
